<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Stuðlagil Canyon</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Die Ortschaft Bakkagerði im Osten Islands verlassen wir auf der [94] Borgarfjarðarvegur. An der Passhöhe&nbsp;Vatnsskarð&nbsp;halten für ein Foto mit Aussicht auf die gegenüberliegenden Berge und das Meer. In 2016 sahen wir dort <a href="https://lichtpumpe.wordpress.com/2016/09/07/strasse-917-regenbogen/">einen tollen Regenbogen</a>. Nach 35 Kilometern biegen wir auf die [944] ab, eine Gravel Road, die den Weg zur Ringstraße abkürzt. Sie lässt sich gut fahren und wir kommen über die [925] auf die Ringstraße [1]. Dieser folgen wir ein Stück Richtung Westen, um dann auf die [923] zum <a href="https://studlagil.is/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stuðlagil Canyon</a> einzuschwenken.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Auf der Gravelroad zum Canyon sind viele schnelle Autos unterwegs. Ist ja auch klar, denn der Canyon ist mit einem kurzen Abstecher von der Ringstraße gut zu erreichen. Am Canyon steht die Sonne, bzw. wir, leider auf der „falschen“ Seite, doch der Blick lohnt sich dennoch: Nach 239 Stufen über eine Stahltreppe hinab hat man eine tolle Aussicht in den Canyon. Auf den Felsen der gegenüberliegenden Seite klettern überall Menschen herum und in der Luft schwirren Drohnen umher. Ein junger Mann versucht auf der Plattform seine Drohne zu starten, fängt sie aber gleich wieder mit der Hand ein. Beim zweiten Versuch hebt sie ab, verschwindet dann aber selbstständig hinter einem Felsen und bleibt für immer verschwunden. Man sollte den Kompass der Drohne nicht auf einer großen Stahlkonstruktion kalibrieren.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Rastplatz</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Da sich hier im Bereich des Canyon viele Besucher aufhalten, suchen wir ein ruhigeres Plätzen für die Mittagspause. Dazu fahren wir ein paar Kilometer flussaufwärts und werden fündig: Von einer Schotterfläche etwas abseits der Straße können wir über das weite Flussbett des Jökulsá á Brú schauen. Ich hole Tisch und Stühle raus, Frau bereitet am offenen Heckauszug das Mittagessen vor.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Nach einer Stunde fahren wir weiter, schließlich steht heute noch eine F-Straße mit Furt auf dem Plan.  </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">F910 ins Hochland</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Von unserem Rastplatz sind es nur zwei Kilometer bis zum Abzweig auf die Hochlandpiste [F907] in Richtung Norden. Wir rumpeln den Anstieg hinauf und nach weiteren drei Kilometern biegen wir links ab auf die [F910]. Wir wollen in südlicher Richtung zum&nbsp;Kárahnjúkar-Kraftwerk.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Laut unseren Karten soll sich auf der Strecke eine Furt befinden. Die Frau ist deswegen schon ganz angespannt, schaffen wir das? Alles kein Problem, die Furt können wir nur anhand der Karte erkennen, denn sie ist durch Rohre unter der Piste beseitigt worden &#8211; was die Frau total Klasse findet. Trotzdem macht die Fahrt über die Piste Spaß, denn wir rumpeln bei schönstem Wetter mit dem roten Bus durch eine beeindruckende Mondlandschaft. Außerdem können wir auch ohne 4&#215;4 Antrieb ein wenig Hochlandpiste schnuppern.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Nachtplatz am Canyon</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Im Verlauf der Piste [F910] erreichen wir den Abzweig zu einem Aussichtspunkt in den Hafrahvammagljúfur Canyon. Da wollen wir jetzt hin. Der Weg ist nur ein schwarzer Strich in unserer Karte. Nach 700 Metern geht es mit 28% Gefälle auf einer sehr rumpeligen Piste steil bergab. Keine Ahnung, ob wir da mit unserem Frontantrieb wieder hoch kommen.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Der Aussichtspunkt ist abgelegen und wenig frequentiert &#8211; lässt sich hier vielleicht übernachten? Erstmal erkunde ich den entfernten Aussichtspunkt. Nicht weit vom Parkplatz ist noch ein Aussichtspunkt mit leichterem Zugang, den schaut sich die Frau an. Der Canyon ist tief, schattig und wasserarm. Obwohl die Wege kaum Gefälle haben, sind Wanderstöcke hilfreich, denn der Untergrund ist uneben und mit Geröll belegt. Manche Trampelpfade sind so schmal und an steilen Kanten, dass es mit Wanderstöcken leichter fällt, nicht vom Weg abzukommen.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Wir befinden uns in den westlichen Ausläufern der Westalpen, am Lac de Castillon. Hier wird der Fluss Verdon mit einer 90 Meter hohen Staumauer aufgestaut. Auf der Staumauer befinden sich farbige Markierungen, die Teil einer im Jahr 2009 eingeweihten riesigen Sonnenuhr sind. Bei unserem Besuch verdecken leider Wolken die Sonne.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Nur vier Kilometer flussabwärts steht bereits die nächste Staumauer und im weiteren Verlauf der Verdon folgen noch drei weitere Stauseen. Der spektakulärste Abschnitt der Verdon befindet sich zwischen dem zweiten und dritten Stausee: Der&nbsp;<em>Grand Canyon du Verdon</em>.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Verdonschlucht</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Die&nbsp;Verdonschlucht,&nbsp;französisch&nbsp;Gorges du Verdon, umgangssprachlich auch&nbsp;Grand Canyon du Verdon, ist eine&nbsp;Schlucht&nbsp;in der&nbsp;französischen&nbsp;Provence,&nbsp;Département Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Sie beginnt flussabwärts nach der Stadt&nbsp;Castellane&nbsp;und endet nahe&nbsp;Moustiers-Sainte-Marie&nbsp;im Stausee&nbsp;Lac de Sainte-Croix. Durch den etwa 21&nbsp;km langen und bis zu 700&nbsp;Meter tiefen Canyon fließt der türkisfarbene Fluss&nbsp;Verdon. (Wikipedia)</em></p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Die Höhenstraße</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In La Palud-sur-Verdon folgen wir der Ringstraße D23 (Route des Crêtes,) in deren Verlauf zahlreiche beeindruckende Aussichtspunkte mit Blick auf die Verdonschlucht liegen. Die zweispurige Straße schraubt sich gemächlich bis auf 1324 Meter nach oben. Es lohnt sich wirklich an jedem Aussichtspunkt anzuhalten und die wechselnden Ausblicke zu genießen. Aber Achtung: Eine vollständige Umrundung der Strecke ist nur im Uhrzeigersinn möglich. Der Abschnitt am höchstgelegenen Punkt kann nur in einer Richtung befahren werden. Die restliche Strecke ist in beide Fahrtrichtungen freigegeben.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Gänsegeier</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Große Vögel ziehen im Canyon ihre Kreise. Wir sind uns zunächst unsicher, um welche Vogelart es sich handelt. Ein Blick durchs Fernglas bring Klarheit: Es sind Gänsegeier. Ich hatte nicht erwartet, dass die Vögel so einfach zu finden sind. Die ersten Exemplare wurden hier im Jahr 1999 ausgewildert. Mit ihren bis zu 2,60 Metern Flügelspannweite nutzen sie die aufsteigenden warmen Luftströmungen für lange Flüge. Die Aasfresser leben in Kolonien in den Felsen. Das macht die Schlucht von Verdon mit ihren Kalkfelsen zu einem perfekten Lebensraum für die großen Geier.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Bei einem nächsten Besuch muss unbedingt das 600er Teleobjektiv ins Gepäck.</em></p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Pont de l’Artuby</strong></h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jetzt am Abend sind nur noch selten Fahrzeuge auf der Straße unterwegs. Wir finden unweit der Brücke&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.google.de/maps/@69.4105376,17.2641038,3a,75y,346.86h,86.14t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sC4-oTNwNEAvhjpE8zghnRw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192" target="_blank">Pont de l’Artuby</a>&nbsp;einen ruhigen Übernachtungsplatz. &nbsp;Nach einer erfrischenden Dusche unter dem Wassersack brutzeln wir zum Abendessen leckere Fleischspieße. Nach Sonnenuntergang sitzen wir in den Campingstühlen und betrachten den Kometen Neowise, Sternschnuppen und die Milchstraße am Nachthimmel.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Am nächsten Morgen können wir beim Frühstück die emsigen Vorbereitungen zum Bungeespringen verfolgen. Dazu wird auf der Brücke sogar eine Straßenseite gesperrt. Der erste Springer stürzt sich in&nbsp;einem Brautkleid in die Tiefe, offenbar ein Junggesellenabschied. Später verlässt den&nbsp;ein oder anderen&nbsp;der Mut, nach minutenlangem Zögern verlassen sie die Plattform wieder.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Wir machen uns weiter und legen in gemächlichen Tempo die letzten Kilometer um die Verdonschlucht zurück. Unsere Runde schließt sich an der Staumauer von Lac de Castillon.</p>
